-When we are the lord’s of our lives, the end will be destruction.

-When Jesus is Lord, there will be grace.

Deuteronomy 17:17a

He shall not multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away…

Our sovereign God can and does use sinful men.

-Unforgiveness is ungodly and contrary to the Lord’s grace.

-but nothing can confound the Lord’s grace!

Mark 7:21-22

“For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness”

“Pride is spiritual cancer: it eats up the very possibility of love, or contentment, or even common sense.”

-Lewis

James 4:1-8

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?  You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; [so] you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend [it] on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore [it] says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Philippians 3:18b-19

…many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.

When God humbles us, it is often an act of His grace.

“One’s pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor”

Proverbs 29:23

Only when Christ is more precious to us than our own reputations will we give up our petty rivalries and personal agendas. Only when His glory eclipses all else will we live for His cause and no other. As we approach the God of glory, we should grow in humility. Rather than thinking less about ourselves or about ourselves less, we marvel more at Christ. - Reeves

2 Samuel 3:18 - Now then, do it!

“Those who have no master are slaves to themselves. Depend upon it. You will either serve Satan or Christ, either yourself or the Saviour. You will find sin, self, Satan, and the world to be hard masters; but if you wear the livery of Christ, you will find him so meek and lowly of heart that you will find rest unto your souls. He is the most magnanimous of Lords.” -Spurgeon
